Against Cuts in Independent Performing Arts
Dance is experiencing disproportionate and inequitable budget cuts across Europe.
MoreThe industrial building Kedelhuset with the central location in Copenhagen has been transformed into Denmark's national meeting point for dance and choreography.
After nearly 7 years without a home, Dansehallerne is thrilled to be finally moving into the impressive historical building, Kedelhuset, in Carlsberg Byen (Copenhagen).
Once a boiler room for beer production, now respectfully renovated by Mikkelsen Architects, it has become Denmark's new national centre for dance and choreographic performing arts.
The 4,600 square meters listed building will add lots of life and new functions in the service of dance, all while preserving the building’s atmosphere and soul. Here, a framework is created where professionals can train, unfold and showcase dance, while amateurs, associations, and audiences can meet and get inspired by the professional dance environment.
The building will host professional artists training and rehearsing, technical teams rigging up for performances - a vibrant atmosphere with room for quiet moments as well. It will cater to both the professional dance community, and those curious to explore or utilize the space.
Grand Celebration
Dansehallerne invites everyone to join the grand celebration on Saturday, 31 August 2024. On this special day, everyone is welcome to enjoy a cornucopia of international, rhythmic, diverse dance performances, workshops, dance films as well as the atmosphere of the historic building.
