Dance Base, in partnership with Assembly, is proud to present its festival programme for 2024

During the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Dance Base will host artists from 16 countries who will perform across the month of August.

The theme of the festival is co-existence, and throughout the programme, artist will share different perspectives on similar topics such as climate issues, female voices, queer stories, black & POC perspectives, masculinity, playing with form, hip hop, but not as you know it, and all ages on stages.

Dance Base's programme will feature 29 performances, including work from Lewis Major (Aus), Company Ragamala (USA),  Next Zone (Den), JaJack Movement (Korea), Courtney May Robertson/Charles Pas (Holland), Company Abis (Bel), Rendezvous Dance (Eng), Hasiyamah Harith (Singapore) and many more.

The programme will include the Made in Scotland Showcase with work from established artists and emerging talent in Scottish dance.

Registration for Professionals

As an arts industry professional, there are several ways to engage with the local sector during the festival:

  • The Industry Hub

Dance Base will continue its partnership with the British Council to deliver the Industry Hub. This will provide a space for industry events delivered by festival partners and showcases (government-supported and country-led performance programmes), including pitches, artist talks, and networking events throughout August.

  • Fringe Fragments

On 19 and 20 August Dance Base will be presenting a new pitch platform featuring 15-minute excerpts of tour-ready work by artists represented by ArtCircualtion (Can), Nordberg Movement (Swe), The Place (Eng), and Here & Now (the new name for the Horizon platform from Arts Council England).

Each artist will give a short talk on their work, and delegates are welcome to talk further with the artist at the Fringe Fragments reception at Dance Base on Monday, 19th August.

  • Spotlight on Scottish Dance

Discover more about dance from Scotland with the Spotlight on Scottish Dance event on 18 August.

Local artists will share information about their practice and projects in this low-key pitch/networking event, which is supported by #LoveDanceScotland partners (Dance Base, City Moves, The Work Room, Scottish Dance Theatre/Dundee Rep, and Dance North).

If you are an arts industry professional and you are planning to attend the Fringe this year, you can register with the Arts Industry Office to use their complimentary ticket service.
