EDN office and Board of Directors invite members to the online EDN General Meeting & EDNext Activities Webinar 2023 on 26 January 2023 (from 14.00-17.00 CET) and 27 January 2023 (10.00-13.00 CET).

With the new year of the EDNext 2022-2024 programme, the network will focus on the theme of “Equity”. During the first day of the meetings, members will hear from what the working groups have worked on in 2022 and participants will restart the conversations from the General Assembly in Barcelona regarding the identity of the network and vote on new members of the network.

The second day is dedicated to our joint conversations and discussions surrounding the theme of “Equity”; participants will talk about the upcoming activities in 2023, meet the expert who will work on the research publication and have an opportunity to share news with other members.

Both General Meeting and EDNext Activities Webinar are for EDN members only.

Registration and Zoom links to both days have been sent to the EDN members via email.

10:05 - 10:25 | Only through our actions can we be human among people by Kristin de Groot

Kristin de Groot has been involved in dance for more than thirty-five years in various positions and roles. She recently stepped down as director of Dansateliers and is now recalibrating where she stands as a professional in the field. Collaboration, co-creation, reciprocity, valuing one's differences and sharing responsibility are essential to her working practise and her relationships with those around her. In her professional practise she uses a dramaturgical approach, moving carefully through listening, observing, questioning, mirroring, reflecting and responding. Kristin is co-founder of the Moving Futures network - consisting of a constellation of Dutch dance houses - which supports dance artists in their growth and promotes their visibility. She's chairperson and member of several boards of cultural organisations.

10:25 - 11:25 | Upwording our communication - Awareness of our everyday use of language by Rivca Rubin

Our communications today are still riddled with phrases and concepts that cultivate hierarchies and uphold inequalities. If our intention is to move to environments that nurture mutual benefit, promote autonomy and responsible living, we can choose to make active shifts in our intention and language that facilitate, rather than hinder this; Upwording. The practice of upwording invites us to become aware of linguistic tools constructed to enable hierarchies of superiority and authoritarianism encourages us to co-create environments free from coercion, stress and anxiety, where our microcosm impacts and reflects what we would love to see happening throughout the world.

Rivca Rubin works with artists and organisations providing individual, team and organisational development. Rivca’s guiding principle is to increase care for each other and ourselves. In 2019 Rivca joined the Artistic Directorship of Islington Mill, Salford. A queering community actively practicing care and well being in a liberatory environment, with studios housing 200+ art and craft makers, curators, and producers.
