Dance Connect 2015

Short description:

A selection of artists was offered an artistic and technical residency together with a meet and greet with the European local contexts including the visit to some festivals and encounters with local artists, workshops, amongst others.

The selected artists to participate in Dance Connect were Hemabharathy Palani with the piece "Twine", Prassana Saika with "Diabolique" and Surjit Nongmeikapan with "Nerves2. This selection was done during the EDN Outreach to Bangalore (Attakkalari Biennial), a visit that offered the opportunity to meet the creators in their local context.

Communicating Dance

Short description:

Communicating Dance supported young choreographers and writers and journalists in the field of contemporary dance as future leaders in the professional dance sector. It was focussed on raising the level of competence of the participants in the areas of responsibility for and participation in interdisciplinary and transnational teams, funding, communication, distribution and career planning at European level.

Léim

Short description:

Léim was an innovative piece of action research with the participation of 10 selected young professionals. The concept emerged from the EDN working group Emerging Dance Leaders. The programme was built on the principles of mobility, exchange of knowledge, exposure to different artistic communities, audiences and local contexts.

European Video Dance Heritage

Short description:

On the context of the digital revolution, European Video Dance Heritage aimed to raise political and professional awareness of the importance of recording dance for archiving and dissemination purposes, and to discuss and lobby for appropriate policy change in relation to intellectual property rights affecting filmed dance performance and video dance.

It also aimed to improve the visibility and circulation of filmed dance, and to create a means of effectively passing on Europe’s dance heritage to a new generation of choreographers, dancers and enthusiasts.

Modul-dance

Short description:

Modul-dance was created and structured to address artists’ needs during their process of creation to allow them to follow itineraries across Europe through the modular system, an organised model of support for dance art, creation and dissemination. The selection of artists created a map reflecting artistic excellence and aesthetic diversity and the systematic approach ensured mobility and new experiences as well as a process of dialogue between artists, directors of dance houses and communities.

The project drawed on difference to create a commitment, a working model for the future of the performing arts and best practices for cultural management in Europe and beyond.

Dance Dialogues Africa

Short description:

Dance Dialogues Africa was designed to provide several points of access for artists at various levels of development and to promote a shared sense of responsibility across the network of partners. By engaging a variety of formats (guest performances, workshops and residencies, staff exchanges, seminars and contextualising activities), it sought to link production structures between the partners in a sustainable way and to build lasting connections amongst artists and producers.

Kore-A-moves

Chin-A-moves

Short description:

Chin-A-moves initiated and cultivated a network of European dancehouses and festivals and Chinese dance companies, theatres and performing arts festivals. It was initially built on the visibility of a tour of high profile artists in China and across Europe. Through performances, co-productions, workshops and conferences, working relationships between performing arts organisations, structures and individual artists were strengthened and new partnerships for future projects emerged.

IDEE – Initiatives in Dance through European Exchange
