Guiding principles

Tanssin talo, is a Helsinki-based organisation whose mission is to enhance the availability and diversity of high quality dance art and cultural offerings in the metropolitan area, and throughout Finland as well as internationally. Towards this end the group is working to create a building dedicated solely to dance and performing arts, “The Dance House”.

The association is currently engaged in developing services for professionals, including a rehearsal space information bank, in cooperation with the capital’s dance schools, alongside which it offers mentoring services, touring opportunities and producing events in cooperation with other industry partners and major cultural establishments.

Building description

The construction of Dance House Helsinki will start in Spring 2019 (see the architectural drawing above) and the opening season will take place in Autumn 2021. The project to secure new premises is in progress, with the renovation of existing rehearsal and performance spaces, and will culminate in the addition of a new bespoke building. The Cable Factory, located in Ruoholahti, Helsinki, offers the ideal base for the organisation to continue to foster and sustain dance art in Finland.
