First Baltic Dance Platform, Vilnius, Lithuania on May 9-11

Lithuanian Dance Information Centre, in cooperation with Lithuanian Culture Institute and Lithuanian Cultural Attachés, and in cooperation with Latvian Dance Information Center and Sõltumatu Tantsu Lava / STL (Estonia) is happy to announce the first pilot Baltic Dance Platform on May 9-11, 2019 in Vilnius during the XXIII international contemporary dance festival New Baltic Dance (May 2-12, 2019).

In this context, the Baltic Dance Platform and EDN organise the EDN Baltics Encounter to meet with artists from Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, attend their pitching sessions, get to know bigger companies and independent choreographers, meet with representatives of education system for dance in Lithuania.

The EDN Encounter will take place as part of the Baltic Dance Platform. The Platform will present independent Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian dance artists and dance theatres, who are exploring the boundaries of choreography, movement, artistic approaches and socio-critical voices. Alongside the main performance events there will be pitch sessions and special meetings with the artists from all 3 Baltic countries.

On the 2nd day of the platform, 10 May 9:30-10:30, there will be an EDN presentation of the network.

Since the contemporary dance scene in Lithuania is developing in 3 major cities: Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipeda, the organisers offer an additional opportunity to EDN participants to visit Kaunas contemporary dance theatre AURA (one of the oldest companies in Lithuania, the oldest festival for contemporary dance AURA) and Seiko dance theatre in Klaipeda (+Plartforma contemporary arts festival). These visits are optional. They would take place on 12 May 2019 and they would require travelling by train between these cities.
