The Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) and the Fundação Nacional de Artes (FUNARTE) have launched the results of the study “Mapeamento da Dança: diagnóstico da dança em oito capitais de cinco regiões do Brasil” (Dance mapping: diagnosis of dance in eight Brasilian regions), research that has been possible thanks to the technical cooperation of both institutions and coordinated by Dr. Lúcia Matos (PPGDança – UFBA) and Dr. Gisele Nussbaumer (Pós-Cultura – UFBA).
The research aimed to identify dance agents (individuals, groups and institutions) that work in training and artistic production while analysing social, economical and artistic aspects of the sector in 8 cities Curitiba, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Goiânia, Salvador, Recife, Fortaleza and Belém. The study has involved 25 researchers, a technician and 59 university students.
The results of the study include a digital publication with a diagnosis of the sector in the already mentioned cities taking into consideration different configurations and realities of dance in Brasil and a database including information about 4.570 individuals, 677 grups and 460 institutions.
