Dance Gate Lefkosia Cyprus opens a call for artists involved in artistic practices of art and nature ecology to participate in the Workshop Eco Art Incubator Cyprus: Sites Embodied and the EDN Atelier Akamas: Nature Embodied.
The workshop Eco Art Incubator Cyprus: Sites Embodied will take place in the village of Androlikou in the Akamas Peninsula from 14 to 19 April 2017. It will bring together local and visiting artists from various disciplines to research ecological art methodologies as they pertain to a particular contested site. The participating artists will share their expertise and use site-specific embodied research to respond to this site in order to generate new artistic and ecological resonances. The call is for artists to experiment with their own practice through a thematic lens and to seed practices for on-going engagements in this region. The work will be done in dialogue with co-facilitators Denise Kenney and Nancy Holmes, both artists and professors at the University of British Columbia in Canada.
The workshop will be followed by the EDN Atelier Akamas: Nature Embodied from 20 to 23 April. The Atelier will have the form of a sharing and discussion of the previous workshop findings with EDN and local communities invited guests. This will happen primarily at the site of exploration and experimentation. The Atelier is considered part of the activities for Paphos 2017 European Capital of Culture.
The travel cost to Akamas Peninsula in Cyprus is on each participant. The organisation will provide free accommodation in shared apartments in the nearby village of Drousheia, food (two meals per day) and local transport for 6 days.
