CoFestival: Dance to Insist, Dance to Resist

CoFestival-International Festival of Contemporary Dance will take place in Ljubljana from 25th November to 4th December produced and realized by the EDN member Kino Šiška, Center for Urban Culture and Nomad Dance Academy Slovenia.

The fourth edition of this event (that was born as a modul-dance festival in combination with other local festival events) showcases a series of world-class international and Slovenian contemporary dance pieces and events, which deal with issues of collectivity and individuality, as well as their symptoms on a permeable boundary between public and private, in various ways, in order to question the potential of new social cohesiveness. The festival programme was shaped by the interests and ambitions of an artistic committee intrigued by modern approaches to choreographic practices and ways of communicating with the public and audiences. It is designed collectively and consensually and problem-oriented, with the motto Dance to Insist, Dance to Resist.

The artistic programme include works by Isabelle Schad, Amanda Piña and Daniel Zimmerman, Goran Bogdanovski, Albert Quesada, Verna Billinger and Sebastian Schulz, Pieter Ampe and Guilherme Garrido, Bara Kolenc, Igor Koruga and Ana Dubljević, Martin Sonderkamp and Darko Dragičević and Roberta Milevoj, amongst others.

The accompanying program will deal with broader views of the concepts of choreography, dance and cultural work, as well as temporal (historical) physical and artistic traces. Nina Božič Yams and Dejan Srhoj will attempt to extend dance to other fields of social activities in their EDN Atelier Applying Choreographic Tools in the Organizational Chart. The exhibition Ksenija Hribar: Between the British and Slovene Contemporary Dance Contexts, a conference within the framework of the Nomad Dance Institute titled Archiving of the Choreographic Practice, a workshop presentation by Martin Sonderkamp and Darko Dragičević, and the presentation of the book by Guy Cools Imaginative Bodies are some of the events included also in the programme.
