Dance for Health is organizing a one-week education workshop for teachers that will take place from 26 to 30 October in Rotterdam.
After one training week, will follow a deepening weekend. During this particular weekend, the participants will go deeper into the artistic part of the program to eventually obtain the Dance for Health teachers certificate.
The cost of the course is 750 euros (excl. 21% VAT – Lunch is included). The deepening weekend will cost 300 euros (excl. 21% VAT).
Dance for Health is looking for likeminded people with dance education, experience as a dancer and teaching experience who can stimulate creative processes, want a long-term commitment and are able to respond to the needs of the participants of the lessons and open to personal development and reflection.
Dance for Health contributes to the preservation of independence and optimizing wellbeing of people with restricted mobility. Telling and imagining stories, music and sharing emotions they are linked to specific areas such as balance, flexibility and coordination. It is about the creative process, where fun, meeting, personal development and a renewed confidence in one’s own body are just as important as the movement itself.
Marc Vlemmix and Andrew Greenwood founded Dance for Health in 2012. Marc is a passionate dance lover, also a Parkinson’s patient. After using his passion to enhance his quality of life through dance. He decided create this foundation so other can benefit from such programs. Andrew comes from the dance world and worked as an International ballet master. Together they have developed a method where people with Parkinson’s and other neurodegenerative problems. These programs are designed to create specific dance programs that enhance the wellbeing of the participants. This method is based on the model of the Mark Morris Dance Group and the Brooklyn Parkinson Group from New York and has been further refined with the help of a dedicated group of professionals.
